(10) Stories from the lab: main events (2024) (2)

2024.05.24 - "Cities2030 Vicenza Food Lab BioMerenda"

The "BioMerenda" (meaning a km0 snack) was an event organised in synergy with the "Abitare le infanzie 06+" (a programme of several activities for children, families and education professionals running from June to November 2024, developed in the occasion of the 23rd National Conference of the National Nursery and Childhood Group, which will be held for the first time in Vicenza from 25 to 27 October). The Cities2030 Vicenza Food Lab BioMerenda was organised by the Municipality of Vicenza to show the works/material that some schools in the city and the province of Vicenza created as part of the living labs proposed by the Cities2030 Vicenza Food Lab. It was an opportunity to share with the citizens/general public how the students have understood and further elaborated key issues such as the dynamics that concern the local urban food system, from the grandparents' storytelling of traditional receipts to recycle food and avoid waste, to the contamination of gastronomic culture with the food and cultures of the world.

The BioMerenda offered by the project was also a moment of celebration and aggregation around food, and the students participating in the living labs received a "Cities2030 gadget".

The organisation of the catering was organised by AGENDO, which is a local no-profit organisation supporting people with Down syndrome and their families, in a project of true social inclusion and development of personal autonomy around food.

More than 1000 people participated, representing different Countries and cultures!

2024.07.07 - Cities2030 Vicenza Food Lab DiscoSALAD.

The DiscoSALAD was an initiative aimed at citizens, with an eye on young generations, aimed at spreading good practices to avoid food waste and circularity, but also stimulate greater awareness of the impact that food waste has on daily life. Using fruit and vegetables that people usually do not choose because they are "not perfect", the participants prepared and enjoyed their own salad while two deejays took turns at the console with a selection of electronic music. This event involved the Municipality of Vicenza and the International Library "La Vigna", but also the cultural center Porto Burci which hosted the event in its urban garden and the Fruit and Vegetable Central Market, which offered vegetables and fruit for free.
