2023.10.11 - Capacity building action - El Poiana 2024
The "Poiana 2024" calendar serves as a capacity-building event, featuring lithographic illustrations by Galliano Rosset and culinary insights from Chef Amedeo Sandri. It offers a rich array of intriguing perspectives on local history and folk traditions, with research support from the Molin Vecio restaurant in Caldogno. This year’s theme centers on life in the Venetian countryside, closely intertwined with advancements in agricultural technology, providing a unique learning experience that highlights the region's heritage and agrarian evolution
2023.10.21 - Capacity building action - "La sicurezza nella gestione delle eccedenze alimentari" (Security in the management of food surpluses) - organised by the International Library "La Vigna" with the support of the Municipality of Vicenza
One of the fundamental aspects explored by this capacity building action was the donation and redistribution of food surpluses, with the aim of promoting access to food and satisfying the food needs of disadvantaged sections of the population. Given the crucial importance of the hygienic-sanitary safety (food safety and food security) of donated foods, specific information was provided on the correct conservation, handling and preparation of meals, in order to minimize the risk of diseases transmitted through food and preserve as much as possible the nutritional properties of foods. The role of collaborators and volunteers in handling food is of fundamental importance to guarantee its healthiness. This training provided essential information on hygiene rules and correct behavior to guarantee high standards of food safety, also issuing the certificate of participation.
2023.11.11 - Visibility and dissemination action - Exhibit "Food and Landscape: The View of IUAV Students on Vicenza and its Province" (Municipality of Vicenza, International Library "La Vigna" and IUAV University of Venice)
The exhibition presented the results of the City-Territory Laboratory of the Three-year Degree Course in Architecture of the IUAV University of Venice, academic year 2022/2023. The laboratory developed an analytical and design exploration on the agri-food system of the Vicenza area. The students had the opportunity to investigate, read and design the Vicenza food system, from production to waste, approached from the point of view of spatial transformations in the area between Vicenza and Asiago. The results of the laboratory were summarized in some descriptive and analytical tables. On November 11, 2023 the inauguration event was organised at La Vigna, also with the participation of IUAV professors and students. On November 21, 2023 the exhibition was moved to Palazzo Cordellina (one of the Bertoliana Library’s building in the city centre) so to enhance its visibility to the citizens and general public. It remained open until December 6th.
2023.11.16 - Capacity building action - Seminar with the students of the ISS "Almerico da Schio"
The Cities2030 Vicenza Food Lab was invited by the ISS Almerico da Schio - educational secondary institute with specializations in catering and hospitality - to introduce the H2020 Cities2030 Project and give a lesson about nutritional education, ethics, legality and transparency in urban sustainable food systems and the role of sustainable supply chains at an environmental, economic and social level.
